For critical and creative academics

Service Description
From Psygentra's Centre for Writing & Publishing: How To Write Your First Book and Get It Published, with Dr. Jem Tosh, an award-winning researcher and author. In this online workshop, Dr. Jem Tosh (they/she) guides you through the process of writing your first academic monograph, from coming up with the idea for the book through to marketing it after publication. They take you through each step of the book proposal and provide advice and guidance on things that can prevent you from reaching your writing goal - like 'imposter syndrome', criticism, chronic illness, trauma, high workloads, and a fear of success. We will cover strategies for writing about politicised topics as marginalised authors, and ways to prepare for hostile responses. This session is for postgraduate students, professionals, researchers, professors, and academics who would like to write their first book and are either starting the process, already in the middle of it and looking for extra support and guidance, or curious about how they might publish a book in the future. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion, and there will be more of a focus on critical and creative work (e.g. feminist, critical psychology, qualitative methods, creative research, etc.). If you would like to know more about the session, please email jtosh@psygentra.com. This is a live session and will not be recorded. Limited to 5 participants only to allow for personalised advice and guidance, as well as to create a supportive and non-intimidating space.
